Richard Goodwin-Jones makes a range of contemporary raku ceramics. The simple structures of his work directs attention towards the unpredictable colours and textures that are created by the Raku process - an ancient Japanese method of firing that uses smoke and fire to create surface pattern and colour.
Inspired by colours and textures found in the harbours and coastline of Cornwall and France, he uses the Raku technique to create similar effects on his range of 2D and 3D boats, submarines and lighthouses. He also creates one-off and larger works which are available for exhibitions.
